Float and fish the Alagnak, American, Moraine, Funnel Creek, the Kotuli, Mulchatna, Stuyahok, or Copper River, Kanektok, Arolik or one of several other spectacular remote Alaskan rivers with Wilderness Waters Travel. We offer completely customized guided, supervised, and non-guided fishing float trips on some of Alaska’s most remote and truly magnificent river systems. These float trips take place in the heart of Southwest Alaska offering the most prolific Salmon, Rainbow, Char and Grayling fly-fishing in Alaska. Guided trips provide everything including floatplane flights, 1 guide for each 2 anglers, food, fishing equipment (if needed), rafts, tents, camping/cooking gear, etc. Supervised trips include floatplane flights, 1 guide for the group, rafts, tents, camping/cooking gear, food, etc., but no fishing equipment. Self-guided trips also include, rafts, tents, camping/cooking gear, etc. but no food or fishing equipment. For the Self-Guided trips the arrangements for food are quite easy and Wilderness Waters will assist and make suggestions for the easiest and seamless ways to expedite the handling of your food. We can also arrange to rent fishing gear if you need it. These trips are for the “real adventurers” looking for the true wilderness experiences of Alaska.
For the Guided and Self-Guided trips we will co-ordinate all of the arrangements with our Alaskan partner.
You’ll stay out on the river for the duration of the trip, stopping at key points along the waterway to set up camp, spend a relaxing evening around the campfire, maybe enjoy an evening hatch, a good nights sleep, and back on the water next morning to do it all over again. New water every day, incredible scenery, fabulous fishing, and not a care in the world. You will experience the true Alaskan wilderness while fly-fishing these fabled waters. These trips are truly great adventures and you will leave Alaska a changed person, infected by the serenity of the true wilderness.

The duration of our guided or non-guided trips are between 5 and 7 days depending on which river you go to and what your schedule may be.
Your safety is our prime concern and all of our trips are designed around top of the line equipment and a solid safety program for your group.
What makes Wilderness Waters Travel’s float trips different: Our trips are customized for your group. You can start and end on the days of your choice. Your group members are the only people on the trip (unless you want a guide)! We will tailor your float to match the targeted species, type of water, and level of fishing expertise you are comfortable with. We take care of everything for you from assisting you with airline ticketing to the safety equipment you may need.
- One week self-guided trip is $3,350 per person for a group of two or more
- One week guided trip starts at 5,700 per person for a group of two or more.
A Sample Fishing Float Trip Itinerary
Assuming you desire a Sunday start to your trip.
Saturday:
Leave home for your airport of departure, flight to Anchorage, overnight in hotel. (We can arrange flights and hotels for you)
Sunday: Leave ANC for Iliamna on Lake Clark Air at 8:00 am
- You are picked up in Iliamna around 10:00 am
- Load gear in the float planes, fly out to river, and be fishing by 1:00 pm
- Set up gear/ relax/ fish for big bows, char, and salmon.
Monday-Friday: float/fish/camp/catch lots of big fish
Saturday: break camp/ row to takeout by 10:00 am (some rivers you will camp at the takeout)
- Depart river for Iliamna around 10:30 am
- Depart Iliamna for Anchorage at 12:00 pm
- Depart from Anchorage to your home airport after 3:30 pm.
We can arrange longer or shorter trips as your schedule may demand and we can arrange all the food and incidentals you may require.
